great set list and tight playing, but..... with all the access to MIDI and sounds, you would think Vince could and would have picked a better sound. his

shitty organ and keyboard sound almost makes this show unbearable, sounds like a carousel at the fair. terrible.
Went to this show with a buddy of mine Steve and an ex girlfriend. I remember distinctly that the weather was awful and rainy we drove that night because

my girlfriend lived nearby. I remember entering the show late during Cold, Rain and Snow and we had to walk down to the floor. I knew I had good seats that night but to my surprise they turned out great!! I re call the usher looking at our seat seat and she said follow me. We kept going, going and going till we were right at the front on Jerry's side. We were like holy s*&t could not believe it! Amazing night and so stoked to relive this show in all its glory. Charles miller does a great job as usual to mixing the show.

Something about Nassau Coliseum
The boys seemed to have an affinity for Nassau Coliseum. I saw many a show there, including this one, and believe the fans on Long Island brought out

the best in the band. Never disappointed at a Nassau show. This one had for me the one two punch of Loose Lucy and Rueben in the first set that left us with jaws on the floor. I admit I'm a sucker for Scarlet Fire but then into Estimated Uncle John's - hello! Killer Stella. Perhaps the band knew just how much grief we put up with the Nassau police in the parking lot and paid it back in spades.

A drunk Michelangelo
After reading through some of the reviews it appears that an East Coast bias exists. The show does have some moments, the set list was a monster, but
...
for me the band is very stiff and sometimes hitching as if there is some monitor issues or maybe its just the room along with the raucous crowd that is inhibiting the band members from hearing themselves. At home on the West Coast similarly there are venues HJK and LBA and sometimes OACC where the timing is just not consistent. Mind you though that I'm being critical and these are really the subtleties that explain what is or isn't a Dead Set that leaves you speechless (4, 4.5, 5*'s) For what its worth Jerry never seemed to have a problem indoors or outdoors! This is a 3* show.

ahhhh hornsby wasn't at this show, no wonder why Uncle Johns Band sounds good. people talk crap about Vince constantly but no one ever mentions how Hornsby

used to ruin Uncle Johns Band, Sugaree and sometimes even Fire on the Mountain with that stupid accordian. i love his piano playing and think it really added a new dimension to the group but the squeeze box has made certain songs close to unlistenable. try listening to when i paint my masterpiece from the 6/17/91 giant stadium show. i dont know what i hate more, the sound of the accordian itself or how the notes don't sustain and fall away so quickly giving it a cheap toy like sound. maybe some folks don't even notice it and it doesnt bother them but for some reason it just sounds like crap to me. anyways this show is great and rubin and cherise is definitely a treat.

W/O the NO2, XTC and PBR that ruled the day and clouded judgment in this era, I just don't see how 5 star reviews for anything in 91-95 (esp. 93-95) are so easily thrown around. The 3 is for the sbd qual.

3 star sound, 3 star performance
There is a fairly prominent hiss that persists throughout this whole show. It is clearly audible during the break between Minglewood and Row Jimmy. Although
...
it doesn't detract too much from the listenability of this particular recording, it is somewhat of a nuisance. There is also some channel cut outs during a handful of tunes in the first set. Fairly well played show, but pretty low on the list in terms of 91 shows, probably due, in large part, to the absence of Mr. Hornsby on this particular evening.
maybe it's just Nassua, one of the last of the East Coast hockey dumps to still take the Dead by this time, but the sound was thin and blowy, esp. in the

first set. It sounded like they were playing rented shit. Reuben was a nice surprise, but I woulda traded that for a real ruben, pastrami piled high on rye and covered with deli mustard, knowhatI'msayin'?

Garcia played Wolf!!!
I'm very excited to get to listen to a board of this show. I went to many of the East Coast '91 Spring Tour shows and Greensboro tends to overshadow a

strong run in Nassau- particularly this night. Does anyone recall that Jerry was using his old "Wolf" guitar on this evening- for a late '80s Deadhead as myself, it was an incredible treat to hear Rubin and Cherise played through this beautiful guitar from the '70s. 1991 sure was a stellar year for the boys! Enjoy!!! 4 stars out of 5 (perfection is hard to attain, but the effort was there)!

into a very nice Estimated Prophet before going into an Uncle John's Band that can bring tears to the eyes. The Drums>Space is awesome and the trasition into All Along the Watchtower is a masterpiece. A good 90s Dead show
The sound quality of this show lives up to its SBD lineage - listeners with good stereos will especially appreciate Phil's work during New Minglewood.

This version of Loose Lucy is great, but the real treat of this show is one of only four times the Dead played Reuben and Cerise - very cool to hear them play this. Overall this show is worthy of adding to your collection if you are into 90s Dead.
